Crepes & Bakes Patisserie Crepery
Your first visit to Crepes & Bakes, you overeat. Fine, you think, I'll just try the breakfast crepes with scrambled eggs, salmon and cream cheese. Or, maybe just the French toast. Then you can be on your way with the rest of the day ahead. Wrong. Breakfast here takes at least two hours, probably more. The service, as well as the food, is European. Of course that means that a meal is a dining event, not a quick stop on the way to the rest of your day. You're given enough time to sit, visit, peruse the menu and make a decision. Once you place your order, it's not coming to your table within 10 minutes, so relax. Enjoy piping hot coffee with your choice of traditional sweet or savory crepes, including temptations like spinach and cheese, salmon and scrambled eggs, and banana and Nutella. Omelets, sandwiches, and salads complete the menu and provide alternative menu options for lunch. Crepes as good as these demand a long, lingering sit-down, so come prepared. These are hand made crepes wrapped around succulent fillings that beg for your undivided attention and that means patience and, when it finally arrives, no shoveling. So, having spent two hours on breakfast, lunchtime will be here all too soon for another full meal. The only answer is to order a dessert crepe now, and skip lunch altogether (just kidding).Listen carefully. Do not leave here without tasting the fresh strawberry crepes. They are oozing with sliced strawberries and silky custard and topped with a cloud of whipped cream. In the warm weather, you need to bypass the outdoor seating and may have to wait for a table in this tiny place. But wait anyway; it's worth it.
